Overview
Olivette is a 346 acre planned community and historic farm, 6.7 miles from downtown Asheville, along the beautiful French Broad River. An “agrihood” community, Olivette includes an active blueberry and vegetable farm, a 7-acre riverfront beach and pavilion, a large private river island, several miles of trails, a community-wide geothermal heating and cooling, solar powered amenities, community gardens, extensive edible landscaping, a fire circle amphitheatre, two Little Free Libraries, a bike sharing program and local fiber-to-home broadband access with Skyrunner.
At Olivette, site planning and design are carefully balanced with environmental stewardship and the preservation of the natural beauty of the land and waterways. Olivette Farm is a project that purposefully preceded Olivette’s residential development, affirming the community’s commitment to re-localizing food production in Western North Carolina.
