Linville Falls Mountain Club

Long range views and the perfect vision to enjoy it all affordably.

Linville Falls Mountain Club is celebrating a rebirth of sorts, and this summer marks its debut. Located off Hwy 221, between Marion and Banner Elk — 25 minutes from skiing, and close to Linville Falls and Gorge — Linville Falls Mountain Club is a piece of paradise that offers extraordinary peace of mind and value.

With 22 established homes, four underway and a plan for 200 when fully completed, Linville Falls is now under the management of Glenn Goldan and ReProp Financial with a solid vision to create the perfect affordable resort community. Private Mountain Communities suggests you take a look at this community and its unique combination of mountaintop beauty and down-to- earth lifestyle.

Natural Sense and Sensibility

A lush hardwood forest. A pristine rushing river. Views overlooking an emerald golf course or long-range vistas of the Blue Ridge Mountains. These are the natural attributes that make this setting priceless.

If you’re looking for a fancy country club with all the trappings or a stuffy, uptight way of life, Linville Falls Mountain Club is not for you. But if you prefer the carefree splendor of a quiet mountain setting, where friends gather around the fire or converse along a mountain trail, you just might find perfection in this special community that shares a border with Pisgah National Forest.

This is the place that lets you enjoy all kinds of recreational amenities, but doesn’t tie you to unnecessary club or POA fees. For instance, there is a beautiful Lee Trevino inspired golf course and pro shop adjacent to the entrance of the community. The lower elevation at the entrance means that you can enjoy this course year-round, but you only pay per play, so although the course feels as if it is your own, you are never saddled with fees for amenities you may not care to use.

Also located at the entrance, is a cozy bed and breakfast inn, a perfect gathering place for friends and family. Here you always have extra guest accommodations and a venue for catered events.

The vibe at Linville Falls Mountain Club is described as “a little left of center.” Relaxed. Comfortable. Like a favorite pair of worn jeans. This is a community for people who want to have fun, enjoy the great outdoors to their heart’s content and never waste a minute or a penny on unnecessary dues or stodgy pretense.

Like moths to a flame, residents gather around the outdoor community fireplace crafted of Catawba River stones to enjoy a picnic or a glass of wine and discuss the day’s adventures. The community is known for its fly fishing, its walkability and gentle rise in elevation. Just outside the entrance is a limitless selection of recreational opportunities from skiing to rafting to fishing to hiking.

The residents’ devotion to the environment is apparent right down to the water they drink. In fact, the community has its own sophisticated water and sewer system that puts pure water back into the North Folk of the Catawba River.

Upscale on a smaller scale.

Homes here are designed for today’s mountain dweller with smaller indoor footprints and remarkable, expansive outdoor covered living space to enjoy the views, the stars and the peaceful quiet year round. Again, it’s all about comfort and fun, and the appreciation of the natural environment.

The design team has started with two neighborhood options to fit your needs:

Catawba – by Moss Creek

Catawba is designed for permanent or second home living with designs averaging 2,100 square feet with finishes you’ll find in much larger multi-million dollar homes – touches of stone work, barn wood, poplar bark and rusted metal roofs on the exterior with chisel edged and honed granite surfaces, walnut, wormy chestnut touches and other natural features inside. These homes by Moss Creek — renowned for luxury rustic home designs —reflect the beauty of the setting and the personality of the homeowners. The open floor plans feature broad window expanses, kitchens that open to comfortable living areas for entertaining and wood and stone exteriors. Goldan believes “Folks don’t want big and upscale these days. They want upscale but in an affordable size.”

Watauga – inspired by Bob Timberlake

The Watauga neighborhood features cottage designs inspired by and furnished by Bob Timberlake and sold furnished to be the perfect vacation home and rental. These delightful homes, nestled in wooded cul de sacs, average 1,200 square feet of indoor space, matched with 800 square feet of covered outside space with outdoor fireplaces. The combination lets you bring the outdoors in and the indoors out. No matter the season, you can enjoy the setting from a magnificent perch. Goldan states “These cottages are a little ‘eclectic cool’ and perfect for those who can’t get up to the mountains as often as they would like but still have the North Carolina comfort that only Bob can bring.”

These homes can be part of a vacation rental pool that is competently managed by the Inn, so your family can enjoy it all when you are here, but also enjoy the extra revenue of renting when you are not.

Meet Chris LaMack of Charlotte. The new vision for life at Linville Falls Mountain Club brought him back to build a new vacation rental retreat for his active family.

Chris LaMack has been familiar with Linville Falls Mountain Club for years. He has enjoyed the golf course and the inn on many occasions, while seeking a mountain escape to remind him of time he spent in the Adirondack Mountains during his youth. Chris loved the setting of the community, but it wasn’t until when he heard its new vision for the future — the emphasis on maintaining natural amenities, rather than expensive and often unused club facilities — that he knew this was the time to take advantage of an opportunity that was perfectly suited to his family and his location in Charlotte.

“I was introduced to the community 10 years ago and saw the possibilities — enjoying mountain views and the natural beauty so close to Charlotte, and attractions like hiking, skiing, climbing and access to the Blue Ridge Parkway,” says Chris. “I looked at a number of homes in the area, but I always came back to the look and the feel of this development, along with the picturesque golf course and the fantastic surrounding views. I know the weather at this elevation is not as drastic as the higher elevations during the winter and that’s important for frequent weekend visits.”

Chris works in commercial real estate development and he is an architect by training. “I appreciate what Glenn is doing and the alliance with Bob Timberlake’s group. I like the idea of taking the design I envision and getting input from Bob on the overall look and style. I’m hoping to achieve a casual rustic elegance and create a comfortable environment.”

Chris has two teenage children and so does his fiancé, so they look forward to enjoying family vacations and weekends whenever their busy schedules permit —and then taking advantage of the vacation rental aspect when they can’t be there.

“I see this as an avenue to enjoy more time with friends and family as we like to entertain. I’m looking forward to playing a lot of golf and enjoying the activities this area has to offer, while taking a reprieve from the pressures of everyday life.”
