"In Loving Memory: Mourning in Victorian Asheville"

The Western North Carolina Historical Association announces the opening of the exhibit, "In Loving Memory Mourning in Victorian Asheville." The exhibit, which was organized by the staff and trustees of the Smith-McDowell House Museum, will be held in the fall in each of the period rooms of the Museum and will be consolidated into the exhibit rooms from mid-November through August 2007. The Smith-McDowell House Museum is located on the campus of A-B Tech Community College on Victoria Road in Asheville. The Museum is open to the public Thursday through Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm, Sunday from 12 pm until 4 pm. Groups of 15 of more may call for an appointment Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday (253-9231). Admission is free for members, $7 for adults, and $3 for children.

DIGGITY DAWGS TRAVEL CLUB
1/1/07 - 3/31/07
Henderson County travel club for ages 16 and younger. Season will start with practices and move into game play with other clubs. Tryouts required. Club will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays, Dec. 16-March 31. Cost is $150 for members; $195 for community members. Call 692-5774.

Jorge Fick: Journey of a Restless Mind

The Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center is pleased to announce its upcoming exhibition: Jorge Fick: Journey of a Restless Mind, showcasing the work of one of Black Mountain College’s most under-recognized artists. The show includes some of the artist’s paintings from his time at Black Mountain College along with more recent paintings and works on paper, particularly work from his “Pod Series”. Black Mountain College: Collaborations and Interdisciplinary Dialogues

The Asheville Art Museum presents the exhibition Black Mountain College: Collaborations and Interdisciplinary Dialogues, part of Black Mountain College: A Community Celebration 2006/07, a year-long community project marking the 50th anniversary of the closing of Black Mountain College.
